RECREATIONAL PERMIT INFORMATION
- A valid recreation permit is required for wildlife and outdoor recreation and to collect firewood in training areas downrange on Fort Carson (FC) and Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site (PCMS).
- None of these permits include Camp Hale Recreation Area, which is managed by the MWR.
- A one-time registration is required on iSportsman. This creates your free account.
- PERMITS WILL NOT BE UNLOCKED AND VISIBLE UNTIL ALL APPLICAPLE SAFETY BRIEFINGS ARE COMPLETED
- After account registration and completion of the annual range safety brief, recreation permits will be available to buy. Permits are purchased from the recreationist’s account after logging in.
- Permits can only be purchased by credit or debit card.
- Children ages 11 and under do not need a permit to recreate, but must be accompanied by someone 18 or older who does have a valid permit.
- Mentors, 18 years of age or older, escorting youth, 17 years of age or younger, must have a current recreation permit.
- Non-participants are not required to purchase a permit, but must be accompanied by a permit holder who is 18 years of age or older and take the applicable safety briefs for their activity.
- A recreation permit is valid from 1 April, or if after 1 April, the date of purchase through the following 31 March.
- A customer must possess a paper or electronic copy of his/her permit while engaged in recreational activities on Fort Carson (FC) or Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site (PCMS).
- Individuals who are not fishing, boating, hunting, dog training, or engaged in any other active recreation, and who accompany a permit holder at Womack, Townsend, Haymes, West Haymes, and Northside reservoirs, do not need to purchase a recreation permit.
- Customers must have a permit to recreate in the Bird Farm Area.
- A FC permit is not required for FC soldiers (in military uniform or civilian attire) to fish on FC from Monday–Friday (1130-1300 hours). FC Soldiers must have their military ID with them when fishing during these hours.
- Possession of a permit does not guarantee access to FC or PCMS.
Fort Carson and PCMS permits fees are determined in accordance with (IAW) 32 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 190 and Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 4715.03.
